What should a roof inspection help you decide?
Choose the concern you are starting with. Get useful questions for the roof inspection, even when you do not know the material or the extent of the damage.

Turn what you have noticed into useful inspection questions
The first decision is what needs to be established on the roof. A small visible problem can involve more than the surface; a leak does not automatically mean a whole new roof.
Use the choices below to prepare for a conversation about the condition, the possible work and any unknowns. The planner does not inspect the property, calculate a price or decide whether a claim is covered. You can use it without entering contact details.
Build your roof inspection question
Choose what you know. “Not sure” is a useful answer, and you do not need to climb onto the roof to complete this tool.
A starting point for your inspection
A roof inspection should establish where the covering is sound, where water can enter, and whether damage reaches the layers below.
You can leave any choice as “Not sure.” The result gives you questions to ask, not a diagnosis or a recommendation to buy a roof.
Roof scope planner FAQs
Will the planner tell me whether I need a new roof?
No. It explains the questions that help establish the scope. The condition of the surrounding covering and any affected layers needs to be assessed at the property before repair or replacement can be meaningfully compared.
What if I do not know the roof material?
Leave the covering set to “Not sure.” The starting questions still apply. Ask the roofer to identify the installed system and explain how the proposed work connects to it.
Does using this tool send my information?
No. The planner runs in your browser and has no submission endpoint. To request roofing help, use the separate inspection form and its contact consent.
How is a commercial roof question different?
The roof assembly, moisture, equipment and building operations can all affect the work. Read the commercial roofing guide for a fuller explanation of repair, coating and replacement conditions.
